Today, we're launching new initiatives to champion well-being and enhance reliable mental health information from trusted sources on TikTok. We're launching in-app guided meditation exercises for our entire community and expanding our Mental Health Education Fund.

Bringing in-app meditation to our entire community

We recently announced a feature test to encourage young people to switch off at night. In our testing, 98% of the teens who meditated with TikTok decided to keep the meditation experience switched on.

Research shows us that mindful meditation can improve sleep quality in people of all ages, so we'll also introduce meditation in Sleep Hours to all our users, regardless of their age. For teens under age 18, it will be turned on by default. If a teen decides to use TikTok after 10pm, their For You feed will be interrupted by a guided meditation exercise, helping them wind down for the night. If a teen decides to spend additional time on TikTok after the first reminder, we show a second, harder to dismiss full-screen prompt. Adults can turn on Sleep Hours at any time from the Screen Time settings page.

As part of the initiative, we’ve also partnered with TikTok creator and child psychiatrist Dr. Willough Jenkins (@drwilloughjenkins) to showcase the Meditation in Sleep Hours feature in action. Check out her video to learn why building healthy digital habits is important, and how you can use the feature to unwind at night.

@drwilloughjenkins Sleep is one of the most powerful tools we have for mental health, especially for teens. But winding down isn’t always easy. That’s why I’m loving TikTok’s new Meditation in Sleep Hours feature. It helps teens and adults step away from the scroll and into a calmer night with guided meditations, soft music, and reminders when it’s time to rest. To turn it on: Go to Settings and Privacy > Screen Time > Sleep Hours Set your bedtime, and let the app help you unwind. Let’s build better sleep habits, together. #TikTokPartner #TikTokMeditation #SleepWell #BetterSleep ♬ Aesthetic - Tollan Kim

Launching the 2025 Mental Health Media Education Fund

Today, we are unveiling a $2.3 million donation in ad credits to 31 mental health organizations in 22 countries around the world as part of our Mental Health Education Fund. In combination with training provided by TikTok, this funding will help these organizations create even more informative and engaging mental health content for audiences globally. In Canada, the organizations benefiting from this support are:

  • ANEB Québec (@aneb_quebec) - Anorexie et boulimie Québec provides support and hope for people suffering from eating disorders throughout Quebec.
  • Kids Help Phone (@kidshelpphone) - Kids Help Phone is Canada’s only 24/7 e-mental health service offering free, multilingual and confidential support to help all young people Feel Out Loud.
  • Made of Millions (@madeofmillions) - Made of Millions Foundation is a global advocacy nonprofit on a mission to change how the world perceives mental health.
  • Tel-Jeunes (@teljeunes) - Tel-jeunes has made it its mission to guide Quebec’s youth through their everyday discoveries, first experiences, questions, and difficulties.

We created the Mental Health Education Fund in 2023 to support organizations in creating authoritative, engaging and uplifting mental health content. The Fund has helped organizations gain more than 173 million impressions on their content, more than 600,000 new followers for their accounts, prompted more than 200,000 web visits and helped recruit 486 new volunteers, thanks to a combined $7.3 million in donations.

"Millions of people turn to TikTok to share their well-being journeys, explore practices like mindfulness and find connections. To further support our community, we'll be prompting people to wind down for the night with our new guided meditation feature and expanding our Mental Health Education Fund to 22 countries around the world," said Valiant Richey, TikTok's Global Head of Outreach and Partnerships, Trust and Safety.

By bringing guided meditation to everyone on TikTok, and further supporting the work of mental health organizations around the world, we're once again demonstrating the positive power of the TikTok community. Whether it be through #GivingSzn charity drives, the STEM feed or STEM learning moments.
